Can Spring Be Far Behind?
"Human subtlety will never devise an invention more beautiful, more simple or more direct than does nature because in her inventions nothing is lacking and nothing is superfluous."
- Leonardo da Vinci

I spent another day (with many more to come) clearing away the debris of winter, the deadwood and dry grasses, deadheading our rhododendrons, and pruning our apple tree. We inherited a beautiful yard when we moved here to Arthurs House. After another day's worth of labour I am starting to understand why gardeners are so humble. I am nothing more than a weeder, a caretaker and a fascinated witness. One who gets to spend the day in the February sun, listening to the strong wind rustle the trees high overhead and basking in the wonder of nature.
