DIY Christmas Cake Michael and I LOVE Christmas cake. It is one of our favourite traditions and we can never resist "just one more piece". We are lucky enough to have a wonderful sister in law whose mom is an enthusiastic and talented Christmas baker. Over the years she has blessed us with cake after delicious cake and we are always so grateful. But you know how they say if you give a man a Christmas cake you feed him for a day and if you teach a man to bake his own Christmas cake you feed him (and hopefully his friends) for a lifetime. Well, our great friend Rachelle shared her family's recipe with us and tutored us in making this fine delicacy for ourselves. One of the best things about living in the country is that you have the time to make things yourself. And make them better than anything you could ever buy. I know we are starting late this year (this picture is from a week ago) but if we can resist for a while longer Michael and I should be in Christmas cake heaven. Oh yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. But he needs an elf or two in the kitchen.
